Possibly an informal portrait of a family member and not intended for sale it remained in the artists family until the Sotheby's studio sale.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWardle exhibited more than 100 works at the Royal Academy,\u003cspan style=\"font-size: 12.5px;\"\u003e \u003c\/span\u003eas well as the\u003cspan\u003e Society of British Artists.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e E\u003c\/span\u003elected to the\u003cspan\u003e Pastel Society \u003c\/span\u003ein 1911\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003eand became a member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours in 1922. In 1931 he held his first one-man exhibition at the\u003cspan\u003e Fine Art Society \u003c\/span\u003eand in 1935 the Vicar's Gallery put on an exhibition of his work. He also exhibited in\u003cspan\u003e Paris\u003c\/span\u003e. His career was highly successful and his works continue to be sought after and widely reproduced.
