Ca.1980 Private collection UK thereafter. 31by 22.5 cms. to mounted image.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDraughtsman, printmaker and painter, Thompson was born in \u003cspan\u003e Dunedin, New Zealand. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eServing with the 3rd New Zealand Rifles during WWI, he was wounded in\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e 1917 and was sent to England to recover, remaining there after the wars end, an army scholarship enabling him to study at the Slade under Henry Tonks, Philip Wilson Steer and Frank Short. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eHe travelled and exhibited widely in Europe and in London at the Royal Academy and The Royal Society of Painters Etchers (elected member in 1939), A retrospective exhibition was held at Dunedin Art Gallery in 1970.
