Earl of Carlisle and his wife Georgiana the sister of the 6th Duke of Devonshire. T\u003c\/span\u003ehe Duke favoured a marriage between his heir,\u003cspan\u003e William Cavendish\u003c\/span\u003e, and his niece. The Duke felt Blanche had humility and lacked self-consciousness, while William was intelligent but overly serious. Blanche married William Cavendish on 6 August 1829, a few years prior to his inheriting the Earldom of Burlington, It would prove to be a happy marriage, as the pair shared the same political views and deeply religious values.\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003eThe couple had five children, one of whom died in infancy. From 1838 until her death, the Countess was a\u003cspan\u003e Lady of the Bedchamber \u003c\/span\u003eto Queen Victoria. Blanche died at the age of 28,\u003cspan style=\"font-size: 12.5px;\"\u003e \u003c\/span\u003eand was deeply mourned by both her husband and her uncle.\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003eShe and her husband are both interred at\u003cspan\u003e St Peter's Church, Edensor \u003c\/span\u003ein accordance with Cavendish family tradition.\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003eAn inscription in the Painted Hall at\u003cspan\u003e Chatsworth \u003c\/span\u003ecommemorates her.
