French School Mid 17th.Century Portrait Miniature on copper. Portrait of a Gentleman. Indistincly inscribed to the reverse, Babin, possibly a reference to the sitter, Jean-Baptiste Babin Obt.1670. Advisor to the King, Treasurer of France and the Finance General in Brittany. He was an author of sonnets and poems, two works were published in the collection Poésies rares et nouvelles d'auteurs extraordinaires (Paris, Michel Landron, 1662). 4.6 by 6 cms.
