Charming 18th.Century Italian Apothecary Jar of inverted baluster form inscribed in manganese 'Troc Mirre' between bands of blue foliage, the domed cover with a fruit knop 16.5 cms high. Rare to find with the cover, some slight fritting as to be expected and to no real detriment. Probably Savona Circa.1740.

"Troc Mirre." Troc or Troche is the old word for a medicinal lozenge or pill, similar to a modern cough drop. Troche Mirre contained a mixture of Myrrh, Cumin and various bitter herbs.
