Lavrillier was a French medalist, sculptor and engraver. He won the Prix de Rome for engraving in 1914 following study at the Beaux Arts De Paris and in the workshops of Jules Chaplain and Frederic de Vernon. Leda is arguably his most famous and sought after plaquette. Later inferior impressions are out there, this example is not one of those. The image was conceived in 1925 and struck in 1929.
