François Boitard Ca.1670-Ca.1715. French School Late 17th.Century. Pen ink and blue wash drawing. A Roman Triumph. An exquisite little drawing on laid paper, laid onto an 18th.Century backing sheet. Initialled (?) lower right. Corners chamfered. 7 by 4.9 cms image. 11.9 by 9.8 cms overall.

Born at Toulouse, Boitard was a pupil of Lafage (1656-1690). He worked in Rome, London and Amsterdam. Primarily as a draughtsman, designer and engraver. A comparable drawing can be found in the British Museum collection (1872,1012.1695).
