Attr. Christian Richter 1678-1732 Swedish School. Portrait Miniature Painting of a young woman wearing a blue gown. Oil on copper in silver mount. Circa.1700. 5.5 by 6.5 cms overall. Provenance: Ex. Collection of Ernest Salaman. His label to reverse. 

Richter was born in Stockholm initially trained as a silversmith, he settled in London in 1702 where his compatriots Hans Hysing and Michael Dahl had thriving practices. He successfully established himself as a miniaturist producing his own portraits and as a copyist of full scale portraits by other artists.
