François Duquesnoy was a Flemish Baroque sculptor who was active in Rome for most of his career he was known as Il Fiammingo (The Fleming). His idealised representations represent a much quieter and restrained form of Baroque in contrast to the dramatic and emotional nature of his contemporary Bernini.
