Absolutely charming Late 18th.Century Needlework Picture of a Red Squirrel eating Hazelnut by Miss Sackett aged 6 years. Worked in silk and cotton threads on woollen fabric background in original pressed metal frame. Faint ink inscriptions to backing board (Nellie **nall Horstall Farm to be taken back England 1836. Worked in 1794). 21cms diameter overall. Some age related discoloration and past insect damage.

Eunice Sackett daughter of William Sackett and Parthenia Patterson was born at Thetford, Orange County, Vermont 25 August 1788. She married David Higgins (1785-1827) of Hadham, Connecticut in 1809. The mother of 9 sons and 1 daughter. She died in 1847.
