Edward Hill Lacey 1891-1967. Stunning early 20th Century Slade School pencil drawing. 19 by 25.5 cms. Some slight surface grubbiness and light foxing to no real detriment. Signed lower left.

Sculptor, draughtsman and drypoint printmaker, Lacey was born in Bradford, Yorkshire and attended art school locally from the age of 19. Following service in the First World War he moved to London and attended the Slade School of Fine Art. Exhibiting from 1924 in London, Manchester and Glasgow and established a practice primarily as a portrait sculptor.
