George Henry Boughton R.A. 1833-1905 19th.Century Anglo-American School. Watercolour Study of a young boy in woodland. Circa. 1890. 12.3 by 20.5 cms. Provenance: Arnold Fellows Collection No 485.

Boughton was born in Norfolk, England, the son of a farmer William Boughton. The family immigrated to the United States in 1835 and he grew up in Albany, New York, where he started his career as a self-taught artist. He was greatly influenced by the artists of the Hudson River School. He had a highly successful career on both sides of the Atlantic an associate of Henry James, Whistler and Sargent.
