Born in Ilford Essex. Following study with watercolourist Arthur Legge, Helen Jacobs quickly established herself as a children’s illustrator, exhibiting at the Royal Academy from 1910 onwards. Best known for the precision, energy and imagination of her fairy subjects, she was a favourite illustrator for Stella Mead, Lillian Gask and Enid Blyton.
