Herbert James Williams British School 20th.Century "Skylon and the Festival of Britain"
Screenprint in colours on wove paper. 1951, 46.5 by 31 cms to mounted image. 59 by 41 cms. Overall framed.
The print was produced to mark the 1951 Festival of Britain Exhibition, the national fair celebrating British achievements in arts, science, and technology on London's South Bank. It depicts visitors enjoying the South Bank promenade, featuring the iconic Skylon structure, the Dome of Discovery and the Palace of Westminster beyond. So evocative of it's time, in it's cheerfulness, colour and post war optimism.
