John Francis Rigaud R.A. 1742-1810. Anglo-Italian School 18th.Century Pen, ink and grey wash drawing on laid paper. Inscribed to mount  "A Sacrifice To Venus" Circa.1785. Oval laid on to backing sheet 37 by 34 cms. 50 by 40 cms. Overall. Some time related wear and grubbiness to no real detriment. Provenance: Ex Iolo Williams Collection, Olympia Auctions October 2024 Lot 75.

Rigaud was a Turin-born painter of French descent who studied in Italy before settling in London in 1772, where he worked closely with fellow Italian Neoclassical artists Giovanni Cipriani and Francesco Bartolozzi.
