Johanna Maria "Jenny" Lind. 1820-1887 was probably the highest regarded of all 19th.Century singers. Called the "Swedish Nightingale" She was closely associated with Felix Mendelssohn who's pupil Otto Goldschmidt (1829-1907) she married in 1852. She earned more than £350,000 in her career (£12,000,000 in todays terms) The majority of which she donated to charity.
