Johann Heinrich Ramberg 1763-1840. Charming group portrait of the Vapendick children. Watercolour on wove paper 1788. Charlotte Augusta 1783-1854, Elizabeth Mary 1785-1867 & Frederic Henry 1787-1811. The Children of Georg Vapendick Librarian to The Prince Of Wales (later King George IV). Some age related marking and corner repairs to no real detriment.

Ramberg was born at Hannover. His work came to the attention of King George 3rd of Great Britain (also Elector of Hannover) who encouraged Ramberg to come to London, where he provided support. Ramberg may have been a student of Sir Joshua Reynolds and Francesco Bartolozzi, he studied under Sir Benjamin West at the Royal Academy Schools and in 1782 he began exhibiting at the Royal Academy. In 1784 Ramberg drew the exhibition itself, showing Reynolds, The Prince of Wales and other notables the engraving of which serves as a valuable record of London artistic scene of the late 18th.Century.
