Engraved from an Original Painting of Sir Joshua Reynolds in the possession of Mrs Montague to whom this plate is inscribed by her obliged and obedient Humble Servant John Raphael Smith. Published the 13th. Of September 1775 by J.R.Smith No.10 Batemans Buildings Soho Square. A good rich impression trimmed on or just within platemark. 35 by 50.5 cms.

Richard Robinson 1st Baron Rokeby 1708-1794. Prominent and influential Anglo-Irish Churchman. Walpole called Robinson 'a proud but superficial man'. John Wesley accused him of being more interested in buildings than in the care of souls.
