Bigari was born in Bologna initially trained as a stuccoist and sculptor under the tutelage of Antonio Dardani. Later as a scenographer and murallist with Buttazzoni. A highly successful late baroque artist he decorated many Bolognese Churches and private palaces, amongst his most important works are the frescoes in the Basilica of San Domenico in Bologna and the Gallery of the Ranuzzi Palace. He was Principal of the Accademia Clementina.
