Sir William Russell Flint R.A. P.R.W.S. 1880-1969. Scottish School 20th.Century. Red chalk drawing on tinted paper. Circa.1950. Provenance: Private Collection UK. 22.8 by 30 cms.
The present work shows Flint's technical prowess as a draughtsman, especially in his treatment of fabric and texture, contrasted against the smoothness of the sitters skin. He appears to have depicted the same model (Cecilia Green) on numerous occasions, often titling these works "Hermione". His Intention was to produce a series of works inspired by Shakespeare.
